Book Swap Event

On 20th November, we welcomed families into school for our very first book swap event. We were delighted to receive such a high volume of book donations that staff have organised into age groups ready for the event. We even had a section for grown ups too! The premise was that pupils could choose a new book from the donations in exchange for an unwanted book from home, or small donation. There were so many books left that we decided to run the event during the school day too so all pupils had the opportunity to attend. During the event, pupils also had the opportunity to purchase personalised bookmarks for their new books and enter the raffle. There were some very lucky raffle prize winners who got to take home some fantastic new books, Seven Stories vouchers or their very own 'Cosy up with a Book Kit'. We hope to run these events every term so keep your eyes peeled for events in the new year!

We hope that these initiatives support our school’s vision to promote reading for pleasure in our pupils.

Whilst our book swap coffee mornings will give pupils an opportunity to get new books to take home and enjoy, we would also like to facilitate a book swap for grown-up readers i.e. parents/guardians, grandparents and members of our school community. There is now a bookshelf in our school reception area filled with books for grown-ups and we would love to see the adults among our school community swapping books too!
